Voted one of the top 10 comedians in New York City by The Hollywood Reporter, Modi has spent more than two decades also becoming one of the most trusted and in‑demand voices in modern stand‑up for audiences worldwide. He has performed in over 15 countries and united a devoted Jewish fanbase with broad mainstream appeal that, as he says, brings the “Goys, Gays, and Theys” to laugh beside his longtime fans. In 2026, he sold out Radio City Music Hall twice and earned both an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and a position on Pollstar’s 2025 Top 100 Comedy Tours. As The New York Times said, “His Comedy Career Is Booming.”
Born in Tel Aviv, Modi emigrated to New York at the age of seven. After graduating from Boston University, he worked as an investment banker until he realized stand-up was his true calling. On stage, he blends sharp observational comedy with deeply personal material about identity, faith, and queer life, creating a show that is both a cultural event and universally relatable. This was captured in his two stand up comedy specials, “Know Your Audience,” and the forthcoming “Pause For Laughter.”
When not selling out shows internationally, he is a fixture in New York's vibrant comedy scene and can be found hosting his podcast, “And Here’s Modi.” He has been featured on HBO, Netflix, CBS, NBC, ABC, Comedy Central, and Howard Stern and has received rave reviews in The New York Times, Variety, Time Out NY and The New York Post. In 2026, he was honorarily inducted into the Harvard Lampoon and in 2018, the NYC Mayor’s office declared June 26th 'Mordechi Modi Rosenfeld Day’ for his accomplishments and contributions to the city’s artistic community.
